Nominal Species of Mucuna

Notes and Caveats
This list was compiled from a multitude of sources.
Although every effort has been made to provide correct data, nothing is guaranteed to be correct.
"Nominal species" are simply names of species;  they may be valid or invalid species, but have been proposed or used somewhere.
"auctorum" = of authors;   "sensu auct." = "sensu auctorum" = according to, or as used by, various authors
"Ex" means from the book/work of; Thus: "melanocarpa Hochst. ex A. Rich., 1847" = species name authored by Hochst., from a pub. by Rich in 1847
Taxonomic "Status" is primarily that which is presented on the International Legume Database & Information Service (ILDIS)

An asterisk is placed in the "Have spms." column if I have representative seeds in my personal collection.
* = specimens of valid species; * = specimens for synonyms; ? = ID is questionable

I gladly welcome additions or corrections to this list. --- Last update: Feb. 19, 2022

A personal note (pet peeve): Abbreviations are used to shorten long text. Doing so often imposes confusion; often it is unnecessary.
Examples: Abbreviating Medikus as "Medik." saves writing one character (drop the period and add "us");
Abbreviating Hooker as Hook. saves writing one character! Shortening Hosaka to Hosak. saves NO characters!!!!
Abbreviating Baillon as "Baill." saves writing one character! Abbreviating Gagnepain as "Gagnep." saves writing two characters!
Abbreviating Mueller as "Muell." saves writing one character!

There's enough confusion in taxonomy...   why purposefully implement more confusion, simply to save writing a few characters?
To minimize further confusion, where possible, I've replaced abbreviated names with their complete spelling.
